Chapter 27: The Sky Net

The time in school is always easy and comfortable, unlike working outside, like a puppet wound up, constantly running for a living. Amostar has not noticed that two weeks have passed quickly. Tomorrow is the first day of the second semester.

Generally speaking, Hogwarts only holds the opening dinner to celebrate the arrival of the new students and mark the beginning of a new school year, with the exception of that one night before the start of each academic year.

At the beginning of the second semester, there are usually no special celebrations. However, this year is different, because of the terrifying attacks that occurred in the previous semester. Dumbledore, who usually abides by convention, decided to hold a dinner in the Great Hall at night to encourage people's spirits.

Snape strode along the third-floor corridor. The small wizards and witches near him saw the grim-faced, intimidating Potions master and quickly moved aside, trying to avoid him as much as possible.

Snape himself was accustomed to such scenes, and he didn't even glance at the students as he quickly passed several turns and stopped in front of a classroom that was rarely used.

    "Please come in, Professor Snape."

The sudden voice from the classroom made Snape, who was about to knock, pause. Following the invitation, he pushed the door open and found Amostar standing in the middle of the classroom with his arms crossed, smiling at a wall.

"Is it that Dumbledore, the Headmaster, asked you to invite me to the dinner?"

Snape walked into the room, closed the door behind him, and laughed ironically, "It seems like you already know as much as our great Headmaster, Amostar?"

"I saw you come out of Dumbledore's office. Where else could you have gone, but straight to me? I guess that's how I figured it out."

Amostar raised an eyebrow, pointed at the wall, and gave a slightly proud display of his own labor of love.

"Let's see the results, Professor Snape. I've been working on it for several nights without sleep, dodging illusions and running around the castle, finally completing all the adjustments just before the opening day of school. If I were to evaluate myself, the result is very satisfactory!"

Snape did not pay attention to Amostar's self-praise. He turned his head and stared at the wall, which was divided into hundreds of small squares, each square flashing with a picture. After carefully observing it for a while, even he who had experienced countless ups and downs couldn't help but feel a slight change in his expression.

In the images, Harry and Ron are coming out of the hospital wing, going to inform Hermione that there will be a dinner tonight, and to ask if she would like to attend.

Clab and Gorg were waiting for Draco Malfoy, who had just entered the Owl House, in the shed. Soon, Malfoy emerged with his head full of owl feathers, grumbling. He was holding a letter in his left hand and threw a cat on the rafters with his right hand. This behavior made Clab and Gorg laugh, and Malfoy became even more satisfied.

At the statue of the hunchbacked witch on the fourth-floor corridor, a black, thin-haired boy with curly hair was watching someone. He whispered something to the statue, and then the witch's hunch opened, revealing two identical red-haired boys coming out one after another. They happily clapped with their friends and boasted about the butterbeer they had bought from Three Broomsticks.

Felch had just caught two first-year wizards who were throwing fecal eggs into the bathroom. He roughly grabbed their collars and dragged them to the office. On his way, he encountered Percy scolding Shallie Box because she secretly used a Legilimens spell on Padma Pettigrew, causing her to fall into a puddle outside the second-floor bathroom.

So, she was also pulled by Felch to the office.

Neville walked into Sprout's office with the Bubble Wands that Argus Perkins gave him. McGonagall, standing in front of her office door, was frowning and watching a wizard in green turquoise robes with golden hair flowing and smiling leave.

A series of flickering images clearly depicted what was happening at Hogwarts in front of Snape. He glared at the people in the images as they moved around or discussed animatedly, and when his gaze fell on a smiling Amostar, his expression changed.

Indeed, when Amostar returned to school that night, he had already told himself what he was going to do.

But Snape had to admit that he didn't pay much attention to the bizarre idea his favorite student had come up with at that time. It wasn't until now, with Hogwarts vividly displayed in front of him, that Snape realized how serious it was.

    "How did you do that?"

Without realizing it, Snape lowered his voice unconsciously, and his eyes even looked a bit scared. "I know you've set up many little things in the castle...how did you make sure they wouldn't be discovered?"

"It's simple," Amostar said, looking relaxed. "I placed an Invisibility Charm and some powerful spells to prevent destruction on all the panoramic telescopes. The students are definitely not going to find them, and even the professors won't be able to discover them unless they specifically search for them."

Indeed, it's undetectable. This thing is different from a wizard's watching; it doesn't elicit any strange sensations. Snape considered himself to be a vigilant person, but as he went along, he didn't feel at all that he had been under surveillance.

"Actually, the principle of this thing is very simple, just like WWN (Wizard Wireless Network). They all use magical magnetic fields to transmit signals. However, my system transmits pictures instead of sound."

Amostar shrugged his shoulders, as if he had only concocted a potion that first-year wizards could easily make to treat boils, so there was no need for surprise. He explained it to Professor Snape in a very casual tone.

"My biggest difficulty was that the magical magnetic field within Hogwarts is too chaotic and too strong, which interferes with the stability of the signal transmission. For this reason, I spent an entire afternoon modifying the interference spells and adjusting those telescopes according to the strength of the magical magnetic field in different locations in the castle... It was quite exhausting. To be honest, could you help me ask Dumbledore if he could give me some overtime pay when I see him next?"

    "Speaking of Dumbledore--"

Snape's face was pale as yellow wax, and his expression was constantly changing, "Does he know about your little scheme, Amostar?"

Amosta did not answer the question because he saw Percy Weasley, with his characteristic red hair and Weasley family marks, slipping into the basement of the Ravenclaw Tower during his patrol, and his movements were highly suspicious.

He immediately walked up to the wall and carefully searched for it. He found the corresponding image near the corner of the wall near the window. In the image, Percy was embracing and passionately kissing a girl with long, brown curly hair.

    "Tsk tsk!"

Amostar commented, "Being a prefect is really convenient. If I had been a prefect back then, I wouldn't have... Well, I forget that I didn't have a girlfriend."

Amostar made a joke and then answered Professor Snape's question,

"Maybe he knows, maybe he doesn't; I'm not quite sure, Professor Snape. The Headmaster's reaction on this trip back was different from what I expected. I thought he would keep a close eye on me, but in the end, he barely paid any attention to me at all. Do you know why that is?"
