Chapter 64: The Diabolical Corpse

    Boom!

Without any warning, the roar caused Harry to slip and he sat down hard on the ground. However, he paid no attention to the pain in his buttocks; his terrified gaze was fixed on the swirling darkness, without a doubt, the scream had belonged to Malfoy, and it seemed not far from him!

Malfoy encountered danger; there are really dangerous dark creatures in this labyrinth!

In just a few seconds, Harry's underclothes were completely soaked with sweat. He shivered and climbed to his feet, without thinking, instinct was already controlling his body and running in the direction he had come.

But just as he took two steps, Harry stopped again, a frown appearing on his pale, bloodless face.

For the labyrinth is filled with dark creatures, which proves that Professor Dumbledore is not deceiving them. So, the 'casualties' mentioned in the magical contract...

In this school, Malfoy is the witch boy that Harry dislikes most. At the same time, Harry is also aware that he himself is probably the most hated person in Malfoy. They are natural enemies, and if there is an opportunity, they will not hesitate to drive each other out of Hogwarts. This is undoubtedly true.

But that doesn't mean Harry wants to see Malfoy die!

Thinking of the word 'death', Harry shivered again, and unconsciously, he saw a picture in front of him: a cold body lying in the dark corridor, staring at the ceiling with empty eyes, his robe soaked in blood. A fluffy monster with ferocious claws and fangs crouched beside Malfoy's body and savagely gnawed on the bloody flesh!

"Don't meddle in other people's affairs, Harry, Malfoy won't be grateful to you. Besides, Snape is watching outside, waiting!"

Harry's lips turned pale, and he whispered to himself, trying to convince his conscience. But no matter how hard he tried, the image that just appeared in his mind couldn't disappear!

"Damn, Malfoy, this is it for me!"

After a difficult struggle, kindness ultimately triumphed over fear and his dislike for Malfoy. Harry turned around again and shouted towards the direction of the scream.

"Where are you, Malfoy? If you can still breathe, please scream again!"

Harry listened intently, but there was no answer to his question. However, a series of quick footsteps soon appeared at the end of the corridor and approached very quickly in this direction!

Harry stumbled backward, his heart pounding wildly in his chest, as if it would leap out of his throat the moment he opened his mouth!

    "Who's there!"

Harry called out loudly, but soon his question was answered, Malfoy crawled out of the darkness!

Harry swore that he had never seen Malfoy in such a disheveled state. The unpleasant expression on his face had disappeared, and instead, there were tears of blood on his face and nose. Malfoy's hair and forehead were stained with blood, just like the stain of blood they saw on the wall before entering the labyrinth.

His robe was torn by something, leaving half of his shoulders slumped. When he saw Harry appear in his field of vision, Malfoy's eyes lit up with unparalleled joy!

It's truly a peculiar thing that Malfoy would be happy to see himself one day.

Harry thought so, but he also knew that this was not the time for such frivolous thoughts to take over his mind.

    "What have you encountered!"

From twenty feet away, Harry began to ask, but Malfoy did not answer. He struggled to control his trembling body and ran towards Harry until he fell into his arms, gripping Harry's arm tightly.

"There are corpses, Potter. I...huff, I saw a corpse!"

Malfoy's face was beyond pale. His eyes were unfocused as he spoke, as if the terror had overwhelmed his mental defenses.

"The bodies are above... I was walking through the labyrinth, contemplating whether to turn back, when a drop of blood fell from the ceiling... white eyes... it was chasing me!"

Malfoy's words were backwards, but Harry was certain that he had probably experienced something terrifying beyond imagination. He could feel that Malfoy had almost put all his weight on him, and if it weren't for his support, he would have fallen to the ground directly!

    "Stop talking nonsense, Malfoy!"

Harry said sharply, but he noticed that his own voice was also trembling.

"Professor said... he said that there are dark creatures here, but he never said that there are corpses in the labyrinth, and corpses can't crawl up to chase you, right?"

"You don't understand him at all, Potter!"

Like a brief flicker of light, Malfoy stared into Harry's bewildered eyes and, his cheeks flushed red, shouted loudly.

"You don't understand Amos Dumbledore, Potter. He's a dark wizard, I've seen him be heartless and cruel in private!"

The moment he spoke, he seemed to have used up all his reason. He became a bit dazed and directly broke away from Harry's support, stumbling towards the direction Harry had come from, muttering "run away" and "leave" unconsciously.

Harry's breathing became rapid again, and fear filled his heart once more. Staring blankly at Malfoy as he disappeared from view, he stood there, at a loss, unable to decide whether to follow or stay put.

    Shhh---

At this moment, an unusual dragging sound came from the direction where Malfoy had come, as if someone was dragging themselves forward without lifting their feet!

    Gurgle---

Harry swallowed hard, his glowing wand trembling as it pointed towards the direction of the sound. He felt that every cell in his body was shivering!

Should he stay here and confront the dark creature, or turn around and leave now?

"Professor Dumbledore probably wouldn't let us fight monsters beyond our capability as a wizard, right? Since we've already come here..."

Harry clenched his dry lips tightly, using what little he had left of his reason to think carefully. He tried to convince himself not to be a coward and forced himself to open his eyes wide and stare in the direction of the noise. At least, he would look closely at what was hidden in the labyrinth, he couldn't just believe Malfoy's story!

Waiting was the most torturous thing, with every second feeling as though it had been delayed by magic. Harry slowly moved to the wall, pressing his back against it, silently waiting for the final moment of fear to descend...

Even since walking into the classroom, Harry had been telling himself that he might encounter something that he had never imagined before, something that was more terrifying than Hagrid's huge dog named Rubeus, even more frightening than Chiyo with her bandages removed. However, as the creature emerged from the darkness, for a moment, Harry felt his entire respiratory system drenched in icy water. Every breath of air he inhaled was freezing cold. At the same time, his mental defenses collapsed completely!

    It's truly a corpse, Malfoy wasn't lying!

It's a decaying corpse, ragged and old, with long hair growing out of its scalp, blurred eyes, and skin as withered and white as snow!

Harry confirmed his assumption as soon as he saw it because he had never seen anyone alive who had a knife stuck in their heart.

    Gurgle-gurgle-gurgle---

Strange sounds came out of Harry's mouth, the sound of his upper and lower teeth clashing. Unconsciously, Harry began to admire Malfoy a little bit. After seeing such a thing, Malfoy still had the strength to run away. This was indeed something quite impressive!

Run! The only thought left in Harry's mind.

Why would a person who had seemingly been dead for a long time still be able to move? Where did Professor Dumbledore get such an evil creature from, and how to defeat a creature that was asleep in the arms of death were not things to be considered now. The only urgent thing to consider now was to escape.

The wind whistling past Harry's ears proved the speed at which he was running, but even so, he felt it was too slow. Never had Harry ever missed his broomstick so much!

"There's another one over there, Potter!"

Just as Harry burst out of a small room resembling a tomb, Malfoy suddenly emerged from a corner, and the incoherent words that Malfoy roared out also plunged Harry into complete disarray!
