Chapter Twenty-Seven: Jiang Liu uses his spear to slay the evil demon, and the demon's heart is in constant fear throughout the day.

Chizhoutou finally managed to return to the den with a scare, only realizing upon arrival that his palms were drenched in sweat—he had been terrified by that hidden rat-like foe!

"Your Majesty! Someone is secretly attacking Wolf Gorge Cave!"

He located Wulvini and urgently reported the threat.

"Two minor demons have already been killed by them!"

Wulvini, brooding over his wine, was understandably irate at the sudden abduction of his betrothed. Hearing Chizhoutou's report, he snapped, "Then why didn't you apprehend the perpetrator directly?"

Chizhoutou hesitated, mumbling, "This foe seems formidable. They wield bamboo stealthily, striking from unseen vantage points."

"Hmph!" Wulvini saw through the cowardice.

Chizhoutou was no reliable commander. Only Bear Captain proved dependable among his lieutenants. The others—Snake Captain, Chicken Captain, Horse Captain—were all deadweight, barely superior to ordinary demons.

Draining his cup, Wulvini barked, "Fetch my armor!"

Two female demons struggled to bring the 200-jin armor, while two others hauled a 300-jin iron wolf-tooth club.

Leading a mob of demons outside, Wulvini sought the insolent intruder.

But all he found were two corpses.

Sniffing the bamboo embedded in the bodies, Wulvini growled, "Jiang Liuer and my wife’s scent! How dare this dog couple—"

Chizhoutou gasped, "The Demoness and Jiang Liuer? They’ve been secretly attacking us?"

Horse Captain, a half-human demon, added, "How strange. Didn’t Snake Captain go to Goldlight Temple to hunt Jiang Liuer? Yet here he is attacking us instead?"

Bear Captain grunted, "That stinking snake is all failure. Likely dead already."

Panic spread among the lesser demons. If even Snake Captain could fall...

Wulvini roared orders: "All demons must patrol in groups of five! Find them! Promote any who locate them to captain or vice-king!"

Suddenly, a scream echoed: "A demon’s been killed!"

Enraged, Wulvini flew toward the scene—but found only three more corpses.

"JIANG! LIU! ER!" His roar shook the heavens.

By nightfall, Jiang Liuer struck again, slaying five more. "With the Hundred Piercing Sword Technique, these demons stand no chance," he declared.

Huyuanya sighed dreamily, imagining their children. Jiang Liuer shook her from her daydream: "We need more bamboo."

As night fell, Jiang Liuer sneaked back to Wolf Gorge Cave, noting tightened defenses. Groups of five demons patrolled warily.

"Underestimating me," he smirked, launching ten bamboo spears at a patrol.

    Twenty demons fell that night.

By the sixth day, even Wulvini patrolled personally. Jiang Liuer, avoiding direct confrontation, targeted Chicken Captain...

The once-thriving den now teetered on collapse, its ranks dwindling daily.
